The Kite Runner Review

The Kite Runner.    4 stars of 5

By Juan Ignacio Salgado

The kite runner, the book that tells the reality of most children in Afghanistan in the 70s by the Afghan writer Khaled Hosseini. We all know that there are many problems in the Middle East nowadays, so it was in the past. The soviet invasion was the biggest problem in Afghanistan many people that not escape and staid in the country suffer in the most horrible ways possible.

The book is about the friendship of two kids both in a different economic class, who live in dangerous period in Afghanistan because of the Cold War and the constant fight between the "Pashtuns" (the rich people) and the "Hazaras" (the poor people). Both kids have to deal with that ethnic fight, Amir and Hassan is his names Amir is a Pashtun and Hassan is a Hazara. Their personalities are totally different and of consequence of that they are a great team and they show their team work in the kite runner tournament, that is very important for the Afghan people and is a great honor win that tournament.

This book have an amazing story, the way that the author explain the Afghan culture is hard to believe being a western, also the events of the book are so tragic and traumatic that make you want to read more, but in the other side the beginning of the book is very slow and have many of useless information furthermore the book have a lot of emotional content so it make sometimes difficult to understand, but it still a great story that I recommend to read and it's going to change your perspective of the Middle East.
